Structured behavioral health support while you stay connected to daily life

Merrimack Health’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provide structured mental health treatment for adults who need more support than traditional outpatient care can provide, but do not need 24-hour inpatient hospitalization.

Our programs provide a supportive, group-based treatment environment where you can build skills, work toward your goals and receive personalized support from a multidisciplinary behavioral health team—all while returning home each day.

PHP vs. IOP

Both programs provide structured behavioral health treatment while allowing you to return home each day. Our team can help determine which program is most appropriate for you.

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): PHP provides a higher level of structured treatment and support for people who need more intensive care during the day but do not require overnight hospitalization.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): IOP provides structured behavioral health treatment while offering greater flexibility for people who are able to manage more of their daily activities outside of treatment.

Who we serve

Our PHP and IOP programs may be appropriate for adults experiencing:
  • Anxiety, depression or other mental health concerns
  • Challenges that are interfering with daily life, relationships or functioning
  • A need for more intensive support than traditional outpatient therapy
  • A need for continued support following an inpatient behavioral health stay
Our team will work with you to determine whether PHP or IOP is the right level of care for your needs.
